It will be lonely this Christmas for children like Billy in hospital.
Billy was diagnosed with Biliary Atresia and needed a liver transplant at 11 months old. At two and a half, he faced another battle—PTLD stage III cancer. Now seven, Billy has spent much of his life in isolation to avoid infections, missing out on playing with other children and spending so much of the last three Christmas seasons in the hospital.
Starlight’s toys, resources, and his caring play specialist, Louise ("Wheeze"), brought joy and comfort to Billy during these difficult times, providing the escape he needed.
"On our darkest days, with no certainty of what the future may hold, you brought happiness and allowed us to escape to another world—a world that felt a million miles away from the reality of our small hospital cubicle." — Laura, Billy’s mum
